Winter in Everett

I just went outside and snapped a few pics. Thought I would share a little bit of my amateur photography.

The Doctor Poked Old Blue Eyes :(

It looks at this point like Riley's eyes are going to stay blue. I don't see any hint of green in them so I think she's going to be a blue eyed girl. Sinatra eat your heart out :)

Riley had her two month checkup today and she's as healthy as a horse. 11 lbs 13 oz and 23" long. She's gained a pound since she was weighed last about 3 weeks ago. I knew my arm was hurting more than usual carrying her around. It's only gonna get worse. She got her three shots and an oral today. She cried pretty hard when they forced down the oral but you should have seen the look on her face when they jammed that needle in her leg. It took it to a whole new level. She was crying, paused for a fraction of a second, her eyes went WIDE and the crying went to hysteria level. I felt so bad for her but I couldn't help but joke about it. My way of dealing with it I guess. Keri was just about in tears. Those needles were at least an inch long and they jammed them ALL the way into her little thigh. Poor bubba. She cried so hard she got those little white welts on her cheeks. Thankfully it only lasted a couple of minutes and she calmed down. Keri nursed her and she's been right as rain since. We're hoping she doesn't have any side effects or her little thighs hurt. She got one shot in one leg and two in the other. I snapped a couple of pictures when she got home with her band-aids on :)

Santa Baby

Wow, long time between posts again. Time flies when you're having fun. We had a great Thanksgiving in Sequim. We were able to get some much needed rest thanks to Grandma and Grandpa and Aunty Tanya. Thank you guys! It was great to see Ron, Paulette and Caitlin up for Grandma's (Phillis') Birthday. Too many grandma's to keep straight. Gary and Louise came up as well so it was an Avery family reunion. Thanksgiving dinner was delicious and of course I ate until I was ready to pop. Riley had a cute Turkey Day outfit. I'll try and get a couple of pictures in the blog.

Riley went to her first Christmas gatherings this weekend. We went to Gary's house on Saturday and Keri's Overlake OB-GYN party last night. Of course, Baby Ri-Ri was a huge hit in her little Miss Santa outfit. She was quite the social butterfly. It must have worn her out because she slept for 8.5 hours on Saturday night and 7.5 hours last night. Woo hoo! Here's a couple of pictures of the little one. We did a little photo shoot on Saturday but we didn't get the perfect shot. We're probably going to try again this weekend.

Smiley Riley

Another long gap between posts, I know. Riley and work make it tough to blog these days. I'm going to add a bunch of pictures to the web album tonight so click on the link at the right to take you there.

Riley's really starting to smile a lot. They're hard to catch on camera but I've managed to get a few of them that turned out ok. It's adorable when she smiles back at you. It makes my heart melt.

We had a few tough nights last week where she was really cranky. I'm pretty sure it's a combo of a touch of colic, frustration and her just being stubborn and not wanting to go to sleep. We had a couple of 7:00 pm to 12:3o and 12:45 am nights which were rough when the alarm clock went off at 5:00 to get off to work. 5+ hours of a crying baby isn't much fun. Oh well, that comes with the territory. We took Riley to the doc on Friday just to get a checkup to see if there was something we were missing that might be making her cranky. She's perfectly healthy and we were just being paranoid parents :) She weighs 10 lbs 12oz now so she's gained almost a full two pounds since our last visit when she was 10 days old. She was 6 weeks and 2 days old at that appointment so she's a healthy girl!

Traci and Aaron came over and visited on Saturday and it was great to see them. I got a GREAT picture of Riley and Aaron so check it out in the album. They got a new lab named Toby. He's almost pure white and he's adorable. He made me want a 'real dog' but I still love the Ro Ro's. We got a bit of xmas shopping in on Saturday night and a grocery trip to Walmart. Nothing really exciting. I did get to watch most of the Apple Cup which was actually a pretty dang good game considering the teams. GO COUGS! It was a beautiful day today so I put up the Christmas lights. I'll try to get a picture up when I can. The house looks pretty good if I may say so myself!

Be sure to check out the album. I picked up a new flash when I was down in Portland last week (tax free) so the indoor shots are coming out a bit better now.

Happy Birthday Monty (and Riley)!

Judy and Monty came to visit this weekend to see Riley. We celebrated Monty's birthday as well. On top of that, Riley turned one month old on Nov 8th. It's hard to believe it's been a month already. It was really nice to have extra help around the house. Judy, you can come and stay any time you'd like! Heather, Clifford and Shelby stopped by on Saturday after they took Shelbs to High School Musical on ice. Shelby is getting so dang big! I can't toss her around like I used to but she's still convinced that I can. I just need to 'try harder' :) Tanya and Jim came over yesterday and we all went to dinner at McGrath's Fish House to celebrate Monty's birthday. It was really nice to get out and actually go to dinner. We had a long day out and about and Riley did great. She's getting a bit cranky late at night lately right before bed time. We think she's getting some colic. She was a handful last night and was the worst she's been so far. She tired herself out though and slept for close to 6 hours so at least there was a reward for all the crying. I'm a bit tired today but I'll survive. We took a few pictures this weekend so I'll be sure to post them up to the album as soon as I can.

Couple of pics

Here's a couple of pics I snapped of Riley today when I was playing hookie from work. I can't believe it but she is one month old on Saturday. She's doing great and seems to get bigger, stronger and cuter right before your eyes. Riley's looking forward to seeing her Grandma and Grandpa this weekend. I love the picture with her finger up - "I just have one more question for you..."

Retreat

I just got back from a retreat in Gig Harbor for work yesterday and thought I'd pass along this gem of a place to everyone. It would be a great place that is close by to escape for the weekend. Its more of a Bed & Breakfast. An Anthony's restaurant is within walking distance down the street and almost all of the rooms have a really nice water view. http://www.waterfront-inn.com/
